Brainwreck Improv

Rolling laughter signaled the success of the Brainwreck Improv comedy performance this afternoon in the Ingle Auditorium. The performance was a live act in which RIT students engaged the audience in participation with the suggestion of sensational scenes by shouting the first thing that came to mind. The actors then had to act out their scene based on what suggestions were given to them.

Music is no stranger to RIT. The campus is home to four acapella groups- Eight Beat Measure, Surround Sound, Brick City Singers; and one all female group, Encore. For members of each of the groups, music is more than just a performance- they use music as an emotional outlet, a way to get away from stress, and a counterweight to help them balance their academic lives.

Taking A Chance: Calculating Luck at RIT

History is filled with various interpretations of luck and chance. Egyptian Mamluks created a system of cards that were able to translate divine fortune. Mid seventeenth century numerology served much of the same purpose. In Chinese culture, shaken incense was sought to decipher luck… For a modern age, chance can be calculated by the engineering minds in Building 9 at RIT.

Digital Dance Lesson Held at Ingle Auditorium

This morning, guests from Rochester Institute of Technology and the surrounding area gathered in Ingle auditorium at RIT Central, also known as the Student Alumni Union, to view Marla Schweppe’s brainchild, a virtual dance lesson between human and 3-D avatars.

Alumni Bon Voyage Brunch

Another Brick City Weekend comes to a close, this year with the Alumni Bon Voyage Brunch. The turnout was small at first, but gradually increased through the morning. RIT alumni and their families enjoyed a bountiful brunch in the SAU's RITz, looking at the weekend's pictures and reflecting on how RIT has influenced their lives.

Saturday Night Showcase: Fun for All

Even after the sun had set on Saturday, Brick City events were far from an end at the Student Alumni Union. The Saturday Night Showcase provided on-going arts and crafts events and visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of activities throughout the evening.

Rhythm of the Night

Saturday evening moved to a new rhythm at the Ingle Auditorium as a wide array of RIT musical groups showed off their hard work and talent during the eighteenth annual Kaleidoscope concert organized by RIT’s Student Music Association (RITSMA). The concert featured a cappella groups, choirs, a concert band, and a jazz and gospel ensemble.
