The human body is an extraordinary thing, and even more impressive is that a handful of RIT Undergraduate Engineering students created an exhibit that truly shows art through motion by displaying the motions of blood flowing through a human hand.

Three-dimensional scanners are used in a variety of manners. Today, the scanner is being used to showcase sculptures from RIT Alum, James Border, in a new and innovative manner. His artwork is on display in the Engineering Park, inside the James E. Gleason Building (9), room 2410.

Imagine you had a robot, but not just any robot. What if this robot could identify you? And not only that, but what if it could interact with you both verbally and physically? Seems pretty cool, right? A little futuristic perhaps, but still cool nonetheless.

Haptic Interface for Micro-Robotic Medical Applications

The haptic interfaces project allows a user to be able to "touch" a virtual object through the use of haptic actuators and interact with that object in the virtual environment.

Growing up we tended to have a destructive streak (i.e., building enormous slingshots and launching objects from our front yards, tempting fate, etc.). From what I saw today, I think the Human-Powered Pneumatic Air Can is a direct extension of this behavior, albeit at the college level.

While you may not understand all of their science mumbo-jumbo and you may have to strain to hear in those cramped quarters, the Center for Micro-E and Computer Engineering offers many innovative and interesting exhibits that no one should miss out on!
