Installing Innovation News

Innovation News Installation Profile

In the spirit of collaboration, the Open Publishing Lab has released the software that runs Innovation News under the terms of the GPL. This means that you have the freedom to use, modify, and share the Innovation News software for any purpose and without fee.

To install your own instance of Innovation News, follow the instructions below. The steps below assume that you have access to a webserver.

  1. Innovation News is built upon the Drupal Content Management System. Begin to install Drupal on your webserver by following this guide up to and including the page "Create the Database".
  2. After successfully creating the database, download the latest supported version (in green) of Innovation News from the Innovation News project page on drupal.org. Unpack the archive and place the contents in the /profile directory of your Drupal installation.
  3. Create a directory called "modules" within the directory /sites/default of your Drupal installation. Download the latest supported versions of the following modules and unpack the contents of each archive into the "modules" directory.

  4. Create a directory called "themes" within the directory /sites/default of your Drupal installation. Download the latest supported version of the following theme and unpack the contents of this archive into the "themes" directory.

  5. Continue with Drupal's installation guide, selecting "Innovation News" as your profile. After you have installed the Innovation News profile, click the "Control Center" link near the bottom of the page. The Control Center will provide you with all the information you need to know to run your Innovation News website successfully.
